The trip up to the lodge was not without orange blaster material. We
met the police at the road block they had set up north of Thames. When we
all arrived at the lodge John Davidson told me my boat trailer was not
registered. I had got the warrant but over looked the registration. So did Back to the fishing. Plenty of fish for tea Friday night. Saturday wind from the North East , Calm seas, high tide midday. Angler Lodge do a launch and retrieve service for club bookings or it $5 per day per boat, lots of fish caught both fly and bait. Johan Kok caught the heaviest on Saturday with a Kahawai 2.9 lb. David Winchcombe with a 2.4 lb. Trevally on Bait. Sunday the wind moved to the westerly quarter with four hours fishing left it was all on. Lots more fish caught and released, most of the snapper were 30-36 cm long, 1.5 lb -2.8 lb. We had Kingis around the boat all morning chasing bait fish, but were not interested in fly’s or mackrell baits. Johan caught another Kahawai, 3.3 lb, winning the fly section Dave Winchcombe with a 2.8 lb snapper on bait was the winner of the bait section. Anglers Lodge sponsored the boat launching and retrieval also a polo shirts and a cap for the winners. All anglers received a starter pack of a fly 10 kg trace and 30 lb shock tip, bag of hooks for bait, also a set of scales, caps knifes and bait jig-fly’s from Sportways Hunting and Fishing.
