ROTORUA TRIP REPORT
The Rotorua, Ngongotaha trip was blessed with good fishing weather, plenty
of fish in the river and the usual great accommodations and hospitality
from Brigid and Sallie.
There were many good fish in the river and they provided some exciting fishing. Fish from 5 1/2 lb to 3 lb were landed on all three days and most people took home a fish or released a few good ones. The deeper pools were fishing well, and the experienced stream fishermen caught fish in the runs as well.

John Davidson was the pool winner on the Sat with a 3 1/2 lb rainbow.

Special thanks needs to go to Sallie and Brigid for their help in making it a successful weekend. Brigid's help in seeing that the first time people had the right start on the river was much appreciated.. Also to Brian Apps, Steve Martin and John Davidson who spent hours sharing information, tips on gear and technique ,and patiently helping the others get started .A real club spirit of interest and excitement at each others successes and a sharing of information was neat to see. Thanks again , guys. Finally our trip down to see the trap with Bert was very interesting, For those who had never seen it before it was a real eye opener as there where quite a few big fish in the trap and the browns were in good numbers . Bert, was his usual source of information and shared a few ideas on fishing the river that helped us all. Once again, thanks a lot ,Bert for your
continuing interest in the club.

I know I will be on deck again next season when the river opens and looking forward to another trip in the Rotorua area.

Regards, June
