Stephen’s request for my favourite fly, was a bit
difficult as I have found
that with lake fishing over the years, flies that were great one year were
not so good the next.
Never the less, in the last 2 years I have caught fish consistently with a
Mrs Simpson variation. Derek Quillian refers to it as a "Lisa Simpson" but
this one is tied in different colours. I use it at Rewewhakaaitu during the
day and in January this year I caught 2 lovely browns down South at Lake
Iolanthe and Lake Brunner on this fly. Cheryl has used it at the Ngongotaha
Stream mouth at night with success.
It is the basic Mrs Simpson pattern but has green rabbit fur along the top.
