Building the Hamilton Anglers Club Web site. By Bryan Beecher

As most of you are aware I am the Webmaster for the Hamilton Anglers Club Web site and I thought I would take this opportunity to tell you about the construction and functions of the HAC Web Site.

My computer experience began in 1978 when I purchased my first computer it was made by Commodore Business Machines and came with its own screen and 8 megabytes of memory Yes 8 megabytes of memory. I learned computer programming in both Basic and Machine Code (the language that computers use in their raw state.) and worked in hardware and software computer to medical apparatus interfacing at the Waikato Hospital.

Later Computer Graphics became my Forte completing courses in Computer Graphics and Animations in the early 90’s. My interest in web design followed and I have designed a number of web sites.

Our first Club site was hosted as a sub domain off Fishnhunt and it served its purpose however I felt that the club would gain additional benefits if they had their own domain. The committee agreed with my proposals and I organized the domain Name http://www.hac.org.nz that the club owns.

I put a number of ideas together; my primary aim was to make the site informative and attractive to its visitors. Easy navigation of the site was also an important consideration. Web site construction tools include Front Page Hot Dog professional Various Ulead products and JavaScript’s. From the opening (index) page visitors can select a destination page from a list that currently has Information about the Club, Where to fish around the Waikato region, a membership application page, Calendar of Club events, a list of the club executive, a photo gallery information about the club’s lodge at Lake Arapuni, a page about the Club’s Float tubes and finally an accommodation page.

The web site will be updated on a regular basis so returning visitors will find something new to catch their interest. If you do not have access to a computer and would like to have a look at the web site then look out for me on club nights. When I am present there will be a mirror of the site available for viewing on my laptop.
