Ngongotaha Working Bee

A big thank you to all the club members who gave their time and came over to Rotorua and spent the day spraying and cutting back weeds and plants.

We covered the area upstream from the fish trap to above Valley Fishing Lodge, attending to the blackberry and clearing the access paths and entrances.

Many fish were spotted but all remained firm of purpose and resisted the urge to grab a rod.

Thank you to Dave Moate and Eastern Region Fish & Game, for supplying the sprayers and spray. David wasn't there to help; unfortunately he had a previous appointment with some saltwater game fishing.

Also huge thanks to Sallie and Brigid Spiers at Valley Fishing Lodge who gave us one night free accommodation and a huge lunch and great diner.

We will be continuing the work on the stream in the future and I hope to see more members get involved in putting a little more back into the fishery.
